LYNO WORLD, NYSC SCHEME HOLDS ART COMPETITION/ EXHIBITION
Lyno World, an Art based organization
in collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Skill
Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) scheme Lagos State, have
concluded plans to hold an Art competition tagged: ‘NYSC CAMP ART
CHALLENGE’.
The event which is scheduled for 3rd December
2017 is part of the activities for the 2017 Batch ‘B’ orientation programme
that began on 21st November, 2017 at Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.
With the NYSC Camp Art Challenge, we want to meet
youths with artistic skills and potentials that need the necessary
encouragement. The programme is aimed at sensitizing corps members interested
in participating in the impending 2018 Lagos Corps Members art exhibition which
is our long term goal for corps members in the arts- drawing, painting,
sculpture, photography, graphics, animation, fashion design, makeup and related
art careers irrespective of their discipline. Interested participants will be
giving every procedural support and guidance.
Yaba College of Technology School of Art, Design
and Printing Technology, the Cartoonists’ Association of Nigeria and other
professional art bodies and institutions will be present at the competition.
The outstanding participants will be
recognized and giving the required sustain to breakeven in the industry. They
will gain publicity among their peers and meet prospective patrons as well.
While skilled draftsmen among the corps members
are contesting, there will be sufficient art materials for others that want to
express themselves playfully with art as we want corps members to catch fun
that day doing something artistic.
The completion is designed to be in three
rounds;- works done on the first round
will be selected by juries, and at the final round non-contesting corps members
will vote from among the best four. Works from the NYSC CAMP ART CHALLENE will
be featured at our upcoming exhibition for the corps members.
Programmes of this category has become more
relevant now since unemployment has been a major concern for our country
as a result of the number of graduates turning out from various
tertiary institutions yearly without been sure of being employed.
We are not out only to discover talents, but to
promote them nationally and globally, thereby getting them gainfully employed in
the arts, culture and tourism industry.
