His works
capture the lingering essence of the African woman in this modern age, her
beauty, her elegance and her character; this is digitally depicted mostly in
stylized forms. He calls this style of art “Kpuri”.
The word “Kpuri” owes its origin to no specific
tribe or culture, the word is arbitrarily coined. The goal of the art style is
to celebrate Africa using distinguished elements of their culture.
His use of
digital is due to its inherent perpetuity. Ubiomo is fascinated by the idea of
art being indestructible; it should not be affected by the physical world,
hence, standing the test of time without much effort. With digital there is no
fear of mistakes, you can always undo your actions, it reflects his impossible
desire to be able to undo certain actions of life. Digital gives him control, a
type of control that life denies us.
